Tennessee is well known for being the home of Country Music. Many very talented and successful musicians that specialize in other genres of music also hail from the Volunteer State. Aretha Franklin, Isaac Hayes and Tina Turner are some of the big names that give pride to Tennessee. However, the people of Tennessee can’t be proud of everyone. According to the US Census in 2006, there have been 4,890.2 crime reports out of 100,000 people.
A portion of the reported crime rate comes from sex offenders. Most sex offenders target children, that is a statistical fact. It is important that we protect our community, especially children, from these fiends. Most states have opened their sex offender registry in the Internet allowing the public to view the names and photographs of convicted sex offenders. This way, the public could be aware if a person they know has been convicted and what crime was committed. When it comes to safety, especially for children, we can’t take any chances.
