A parole is labeled by some to be “doorway to prisoner reentry”. Several studies have documented that convicted individuals that are set free are prone to repeat offenses if they are left unsupervised. Criminal activity is not the only risk former inmates present, there have been reports of increase in homelessness and infectious diseases from unsupervised inmates. This is the reason why Rhode Island’s Parole Board has instituted conditions that will aid in the management of the convicted sex offender from the life in prison back to world outside prison walls.
The Parole Board places a high priority on the crime victims. Parole violations, like harassing a former victim, are dealt with appropriately and quickly. If a breach in the parole condition is found, a fair but harsh sanction will be levied and ultimately, re-incarceration if the offense is found grave enough.
